CULTURAL EXCHANGE FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE

Twice a year, we collaborate with Danish students from Mayoka Højskole, who engage in project work alongside young people from Nkhata Bay. Together, they co-create solutions through projects such as Trees for Tomorrow, Youth for Climate Justice, Open Your Mind. Over the course of three months, they work diligently to contribute to achieve the goals of these initiatives, all while building lasting connections.

We believe in the power of cultural exchange because it goes beyond project outcomes - it brings people together. By prioritizing time for Danish students and Malawian youth to socialize and explore each other's cultures, we foster mutual understanding and respect. Exchanges not only enrich the personal experiences of all participants but strengthen international collaboration. In the global fight against climate change, learning from diverse perspectives is key to sustainable solutions.

Partnerships

for climate justice

Strong partnerships drive our impact—both locally and globally.

We collaborate with secondary schools in Nkhata Bay District to equip students with ICT skills and empower them as climate justice activists.

We partner with schools in Denmark to foster global learning and exchange.

We work with Malawian organisations to implement impactful climate projects.

VOICES OF VOLUNTEERS

The best part was experiencing how excited the local community was about the project. It felt amazing to know we were contributing to something that really mattered to them. There was so much mutual respect between the project group and the local community. Whenever we shared ideas, they were on board and made sure everything stayed on track. They sang and danced every time we visited, and their energy was so contagious and uplifting.

My experience with Trees for Tomorrow has been so amazing. The first Danish team we started working with was so hard-working and dedicated. This made it easy to kickstart the project. The community participation is awesome as well. I hope the project will create climate resilient communities, since alternative sources of livelihood have been put in place.

I’ve had an amazing time volunteering with Mayoka Youth Hub’s Local Impact Project. The energy and commitment of volunteers and Danish students have inspired me to continue driving positive change. This reminds me that change begins at home. Working together on climate change and waste management initiatives has empowered me to make a real difference. Together we can make a better world for future generation

You really get to know people when you work closely together on a project where something is at stake. And you learn a lot about yourself when you’re collaborating with someone who sees life completely differently. My eye opener was when someone from the local community pulled me aside and told me the project had been life-changing for her. That was when I knew, that this way was the right way to use my energy. Even now, I’m still volunteering for the Youth Hub back home from Denmark
